Roger, you have reached deep in the songbook for this one. Great and pertinent song. We do need to be released, as do others. Happy Thanksgiving from this side of the pond. Keith
Thank you, Roger! I did not know that Bob Dylan wrote this one, but on reading the lyrics, I wasn’t surprised. This song is just too perfect for our times. Just 1,320 hours now until we will be released from that ‘man who swears he’s not to blame.’ Thanks again, and Happy Thanksgiving to you … yeah, I know it’s not Thanksgiving in the UK, but it just seems right to say.
Well one big ‘FU–Bomb’ to him!!
Hope you all are having a good Thanksgiving day Jill.
Glad the song ‘bounced’ for you. It was an old joke that everyone sung a better version of a Bob Dylan song than Bob Dylan* and The Tremeloes were something of a favourite band of mine, hence the choice….π
*Except ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door*
Lyrics:
Ma, take this badge off of me
I can’t use it any more
It’s getting dark, too dark to see
Feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Ma, take these guns away from me
I can’t shoot them any more
There’s a long black cloud following me
Feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Ma, take this badge off of me
I can’t use it any more
It’s getting dark, too dark to see
Feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
It’s true, I think, that Dylan was a far better songwriter than he was a singer. You’re right, though, that he does this one well … I do remember this one, too! Thanks!
Thinking of all my friends ‘across the water’ at this time of trials.
You look back into History and you will find that every people, every nation, empire call-it-what-you-will goes through this type of problem, more than once. Some make it through others fall apart.
You and yours take care Gwin. All our best wishesππππ€π
